211 : Group of Folk Dancers, c. 1911

Antique Pietra Dura Plaque of a Group of Folk Dancers

Sold

Florence, Italy, c. 1900

An antique Pietra dura plaque of four folk dancers, on a black marble base and in a later frame.

Plaques of single dancing figures or pairs are relatively common, but to have a group of four is somewhat harder to find. The use of red jasper, jade, lapis and malachite add a colourful intensity to the piece.
