Antique Sublime Harmony Long Marche Music Box by Paillard of St Croix c.1880
Sold
A scarce and wonderful-sounding sublime harmony music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1880.
The fully serviced movement plays 6 operatic airs on a two comb arrangement with a particularly elegant and beautiful sound. The movement is also a long marche, with two huge spring barrels which when fully wound gives a playing time of approximately one hour. The governor bears the Paillard stamp.
The case is veneered in rosewood with beautiful floral inlays to both the lid and the front, and also has gilt carrying handles to the sides. Sublime harmony music boxes of this quality are hard to find, making this a rather special piece.
