Antique 6 Bell Music Box with Enamel Strikers by Paillard. c.1890
A very attractive antique music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland, in c. 1890.
The fully serviced movement features six bells struck by a colourful array of enamel bee and butterfly strikers. The bells are also surmounted by colourful enamel flower finials. It makes for a beautiful spectacle, like a summer garden.
The musical movement also features a tune indicator and a double spring for longer playing time.
The music box plays a selection of twelve popular tunes as listed on the original Paillard tunesheet, including ‘The Mikado’ and ‘Home Sweet Home’.
The case is also beautiful, raised on an ebonised plinth and veneered in rosewood with tulipwood banding, boxwood stringing, and a wonderful floral inlay to the lid.
A highly attractive, beautiful music box.
