A good quality antique music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1875, with the movement featuring 6 engraved bells struck by bird strikers and a drum with 8 beaters.
There is also a tune indicator that shows the tune currently playing, together with a tune selector, which allows you to choose which tune to play. The drum and bells can be disengaged at will using the levers at the front of the movement.
The music box plays a selection of 8 popular and operatic tunes as described on the original tunesheet.
It is housed within a burr walnut veneered case with kingwood inlay and gilt carrying handles to the sides.
