Antique Mandolin Music Box by Paillard, c. 1875
A lovely antique mandolin music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1875.
The fully serviced movement plays a selection of 6 popular tunes as detailed on the original tunesheet, and also features a zither bar with the maker’s details engraved upon it.
The sound is beautiful and rich thanks to the distinctive mandolin arrangement.
It is housed within a first-class case veneered in burr walnut with kingwood inlay, geometric pattern inlays to the lid and front, and a moulded ebonised plinth beneath.
All original, and utterly beautiful.
