A great quality and impressive orchestral antique music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1890.
The movement is visually very appealing, and features 5 bells struck by coloured butterflies, as well as a drum and a castanet.
The movement also features a tune indicator, signalling which of the 12 operatic and popular tunes the box is playing – these are detailed on the colourful original tunesheet.
It is all in beautiful refurbished condition and plays with a good strong sound.
The case is veneered in rosewood with tulipwood banding, together with a floral inlay to the lid and gilt side handles.
