Antique 9 Bell Music Box with Clock by Paillard, c. 1880
A fine quality and rare music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1880, featuring the unusual combination of 9 bells and an 8-day clock inside a serpentine case.
The musical movement features 9 engraved bells and plays a selection of 8 mainly operatic tunes as detailed on the original tunesheet. The clock is connected to the musical movements and plays one tune every hour is desired. The music can also be played independently at any time.
This is all housed within a wonderful burr walnut serpentine-shaped case with tulipwood inlay. A very rare and beautiful music box.
