A good quality Tremelo Harmonique antique music box made by Paillard of St Croix, Switzerland in c. 1875.
The fully serviced movement features two long combs as well as a tune indicator, and plays a selection of 8 operatic airs with a tremelo harmonique arrangement, similar in some ways to a mandolin box.
The original tunesheet details the tunes, which include Rossini’s ‘William Tell’and Bizet’s ‘Carmen’.
The case is very fine quality, veneered in thuya wood with a brass, mother-of-pearl and kingwood cartouche to the lid, ebony banding and boxwood stringing.
It is in perfect condition with a fine sound.
