Antique Drum, Bell & Castanet Music Box by Nicole Freres, c. 1875


A wonderful quality orchestral music box made by the prestigious firm of Nicole Freres of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1875. 

The movement features a drum with 8 hammer beaters, 6 bells with bird strikers, and a castanet with 6 hammer strikers, all of which can be engaged and disengaged at will. The comb bears the Nicole Freres stamp, which is also featured on the replacement tunesheet.

The music box plays 8 popular tunes with a very nice sound. The case is also beautiful, of inlaid rosewood with elaborate inlays to both the lid and front.
