A lovely-sounding antique cylinder music box with 6 bells, made by the prestigious firm of Nicoles Freres in Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1890.

The fully serviced movement features 6 bells struck by bird strikers and a double spring for longer playing time, as well as a speed moderator over the governor. It plays 10 operatic and popular tunes as detailed on the original tunesheet, including six tunes by Sullivan and Bizet’s ‘Carmen’.

Above the movement, the case also retains its original Nicole Freres London retailer label. The comb is also stamped with the Nicole Freres maker’s mark.

It comes in a beautiful case reveneered in burr walnut with tulipwood inlay.
