A very nice quality and great sounding antique cylinder music box with 9 bells, made by the prestigious firm of Nicoles Freres in Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1890.

The fully serviced movement features 9 bells and a double spring for longer playing time. It plays 8 operatic and popular tunes as detailed on the replacement tunesheet, including Blue Danube and Bonnie Dundee.

Above the movement, the case also retains its original retailer label – ‘Keith Prowse & Co., 48 Cheapside, London.’

The comb is also stamped with the Nicole Freres maker’s mark.

The case is rosewood with a brass, ebony, tulipwood and mother-of-pearl inlaid cartouche to the lid.
