Antique Buffet Stye Music Box by L’Epee, c. 1885
A scarce and attractive buffet-style antique music box made by L’Epee of Switzerland in c. 1885.
The musical movement features 5 engraved bells surmounted by colourful enamel flower heads, struck by coloured enamel butterfly strikers.
It plays 12 mainly popular tunes of the day as detailed on the original tunesheet, and has a lively bright tone in keeping with the very attractive movement. There is also a zither bar that can be engaged at will.
This is all housed within an inlaid rosewood case with cartouches to the doors.
It is a most attractive buffet-style music box.
