Antique 6 Air Music Box by Greiner (?), c. 1870

For Sale

This is an elegant 6 air antique music box, most probably made by Greiner of Geneva, Switzerland, in c. 1870.

The musical movement plays a selection of 6 operatic airs as detailed on the tunesheet, including two tunes from Rossini’s ‘Barber of Seville’ and a waltz from Gounod’s ‘Faust’.

The movement has a larger-than-average spring for extra running time.

It is all housed within a beautiful quality compact rosewood case with canted corners, inlays to both the front and lid, and tulipwood stringing.
