A very good cylinder music box made by George Bendon of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1875.
The musical movement features an array of 6 finely engraved bells struck by cast brass birds. It plays a selection of 6 operatic airs as listed on the original tunesheet, including ‘Aida. The box plays with a beautiful sound and is all in excellent condition.
It comes in a rosewood veneered case with inlaid cartouches to the lid and front. It is also inlaid with tulipwood and boxwood stringing to the lid, front and sides.
