Antique Mandarin Automata Music Box by George Bendon, c. 1880

Sold

An exquisite quality antique music box with 6 bells and mandarin automata strikers made by George Bendon of Geneva Switzerland in c.1880.

The musical movement features 6 rack-mounted bells struck by three individual mandarin strikers who nod their heads as they play. The sound is excellent, as is the condition, both of the fully serviced movement and also of the burr walnut case with tulipwood and boxwood inlay to the lid, front and sides (it also has bronze gilt carrying handles). The original George Bendon tunesheet details the 8 popular tunes the music box plays.

This is a beautiful music box: all original, excellent size, lovely proportions, superb sound, and in pristine condition.
