A good quality orchestral antique music box made by Dawkins of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1890.
The movement features 5 bells with hammer strikers, a drum with 6 beaters, castanet with 4 beaters, and a tune indicator signalling the 12 popular and operatic tunes the music box plays, including Carmen andThe Mikado, as listed on the original tunesheet.
The movement is protected by an interior glass dust lid and housed within a beautiful rosewood veneered case with a very nice inlay of a Swiss Alpine shepherdess feeding a goat to the lid.
