1113 : Charles Ullman, c. 1895

Antique Music Box with 4 Bells & Mandarin Automata Strikers by Charles Ullman, Swiss, c. 1895

Sold

A great-sounding 4 bell antique music box by Charles Ullman, featuring a pair of polychrome mandarin strikers for the bells.

These striking automata turn their heads as they play along to the jolly selection of 8 Victorian Music Hall tunes, and are very fitting with the popular music-hall theme of the box.

The musical movement has been completely overhauled, and the sound is good & strong. It is housed in a nice tidy-sized inlaid rosewood case. Although the tunesheet is a replacement, the Charless Ullman “Qualite Excelsior” badge is on the inside of the box, and his stamp is on the governor.

A really nice, tidy, jolly music box.
