Antique Full Orchestral Music Box by Bremond, c. 1865

Sold

This is a beautiful quality full orchestral antique music box made by Bremond in Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1865.

The movement features 7 saucers bells with bird strikers; a brass drum with 8 beaters; a castanet with 6 beaters; and a 15 note reed organ. Both the drum and the castanet can be silenced at will using the old-style twisting controls. The whole movement has been fully servied to put it in excellent condition, and it has a very fine pitch and sound.

The music box plays a mixture of 8 operatic and popular tunes as detailed on the original tunesheet (see below for list). The case is also very charming, with inlaid motifs to both the lid and the front and tulipwood stronging. The lid also has some colourful enamel elements, indicating the quality of this music box.

It is first-class, and has the added benefit of being a nice tidy size for a full orchestral.
