Antique 9 Bell Music Box by Bremond. c. 1870
An excellent quality box 9 bell cylinder music box made by B.A Bremond of Geneva, Switzerland in c. 1870.
The fully serviced musical movement features an array of 9 engraved bells, each struck by swallow strikers. The bells can be engaged and disengaged at will using the lever in front of the comb.
It plays 12 mainly operatic tunes including Auld Lang Syne, The Barber of Seville, and La Traviata as listed on the original tunesheet. The serial number 12828 appears both on the tunesheet and also stamped on the winding handle.
The case of this music box really is rather special: a diverse collection of various exotic woods arranged in a visually stunning design, complemented by inlays to both the front and lid.
